Aikido at Point Cook
Aikido is non-competitive Japanese martial art. In an Aikido class you can learn techniques in a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere to develop self-confidence, improved balance and coordination, while improving your fitness. Aikido is a healthy exercise and an effective self-defence.
Whether you are an adult, teenager or for your child, male or female, LGBTQI, mature or young; whether you are looking for fun, fitness or self-defence, you are welcome to come along and watch any of our Aikido classes. Better still, come along prepared to give Aikido a try.
Our students are diverse, with female and male participants of all ages ranging from teenagers to seniors. Aikido exercises the whole body. It teaches and develops flexibility, coordination, balance, and quick reaction. We train in a supportive and caring environment, always mindful of understanding the individual. Train at your own pace to suit your needs and lifestyle.
We also run a dedicated children’s class. Aikido is a method of practical self-defence to help your child gradually develop the skills of spontaneous reaction and effective movement, which will prove helpful in evading a threatening situation. Your child will gain a strong sense of focus and self-confidence while practicing in a friendly atmosphere.
Looking for a unique way to boost your child’s confidence, self-reliance, and ability to handle school dynamics in a positive manner? Discover Aikido, a unique form of martial arts!
Unlike traditional martial arts, Aikido focuses on conflict resolution, self-improvement, and fostering cooperation. Rather than teaching aggressive techniques, our classes empower children to avoid confrontations while developing essential life skills.
Our dynamic classes include engaging warm-ups, fundamental Aikido movements, advanced techniques, and fun exercises that enhance their overall abilities. In our lively yet focused environment, children learn to trust and support each other while honing their physical and emotional strength.
Our dojo is located at Point Cook (see below for locations and times) giving the opportunity to train two sessions during the week. In addition, we have experienced instructors with a long history of dedicated aikido training in the western suburbs and overseas. Our senior instructors have over 40 years of dedicated training experience.
Aikido has many physical and psychological benefits. The art’s versatility makes it ideal for students of all ages, male or female. Please come along and talk to some of our students about their training experience. We were all beginners once. There is no pressure to be anything other than yourself and train at your own pace. Regular practice brings a feeling of well-being and self-confidence that carries over into every aspect of daily life. Such experiences eventually result in a broadening of human experience. At Aikido Point Cook, we aim to provide a traditional aikido training environment for you to explore the art.
Aikido appeals to many kinds of people, both as exercise and self-defence. Here at Aikido Melbourne West, our training is based on natural body movement, exercising the whole mind and body. We train to develop flexibility, coordination, balance and quick reaction, whatever age you are.
In Melbourne’s West, we have become not only a place to train but a place to meet with friends. We have developed a very strong family of aikido students building a solid and supportive presence in the Western Suburbs and gaining a reputation as a committed dojo with caring students dedicated to helping each other learn the art. It’s a great feeling to know that our reputation as a place to train is growing within the aikido community and Point Cook is also becoming known as a destination for quality aikido training.
At Aikido Melbourne West, we remain faithful to the goals of budo. Its methods are based on austere training for improving the human spirit through tireless polishing and perfection of mind and body. Aikido is a path for personal development for people who sincerely desire to perfect their human nature. Having said this, though, Aikido is a martial art and, like other traditional Japanese martial arts practices ways to control aggression and study martial techniques. We at Aikido Melbourne West train in this traditional manner.
